Priorities, Plans and Vision
The mission of the Administrative Core is to enhance the intellectual development of its members, assist in the recruitment of new faculty to the Center for Toxicology (both from within and outside the University) and to provide opportunities to explore new areas of research. In addition, the Core supports the management requirements of the SWEHSC.

The goals of the Administrative Core are:

1. Assist in the development and success of the Research Cores and Facility Cores by coordinating and integrating the activities of the SWEHSC. The Internal and External Advisory Boards and the Center Director and Deputy Director are charged with this responsibility.

2. Nurture the emergence and development of new research themes and programs within the SWEHSC. The Pilot Projects Program, and the Enrichment Program are instrumental in fulfulling this goal.

3. Oversee the day to day operations of the SWEHSC and provide for appropriate financial management. The Director, Deputy Director, Administrative Associate, and Accountant are charged with this responsibility.

4. Promote interactions of researchers interested in environmental health sciences at other NIEHS Centers, at NIEHS and at other institutions. The Director, Deputy Director, COEP Director, and Administrative Associate attend the annual Center Directors’ Meeting, and interact with NIEHS in a number of capacities. SWEHSC investigators are encouraged to develop interactions with other institutions, particularly those in the Southwest and in Mexico. The SWEHSC contributes to the activities of the Mountain West Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology.

5. Develop and coordinate a Community Outreach and Education Program. A description of the COEP is provided separately.
