Drs. Klimecki, Cherrington Accept Interim Leadership Roles at UA College of Pharmacy

The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy has announced new interim leadership roles for two longtime faculty members.

Effective Nov. 9, Walter Klimecki, DVM, PhD, associate professor and associate head of the UA Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, was named interim department head.

Also effective Nov. 9, Nathan Cherrington, PhD, professor and head of Pharmaceutical Sciences and director of graduate studies at the UA College of Pharmacy, became interim director of the UA Center for Toxicology.

UA Science Internship Pairs High School Students, Research Mentors

Each year many SWEHSC researchers host high school students in their laboratories. Facility managers assits them process their samples and understand their data. SWEHSC members teach them about toxicology and environmental health. The program was designed by the SWEHSC Outreach Core and is conducted in collaboration with the BIO5 Instutue. Society of Toxicology chooses Nathan Cherrington, PhD, as the 2011 recipient of the Achievement Award

This is a very prestigious award given to a member of the Society of Toxicology who has made significant contributions to Toxicology and is less than 15 years since receiving their doctoral degree. Dr Cherrington is the first University of Arizona faculty member to receive this award. Dr Cherrington will receive the Award at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Society of Toxicology in Washington, DC on March 6-10, 2010.
