Forest fires burned in the Hoopa Valley wilderness area in early November 1999. Much particulate matter was released into the air, which rose to hazardous levels. Persons at a hospital for six ailments typically caused from particulate inhalation were studied using multivariate logistical analysis models and found that these were significant predictors for future disease.
