Listed in the Microscopy and Analysis - Directory 2005. We were also listed in the Microscopy and Analysis - Directory 2003 and 2004. According to the publisher's web site "Microscopy and Analysis is the premier international publication for all who work with the applications, instrumentation and techniques of microscopy, chemical analysis and imaging to further our understanding of the biomedical and materials sciences." "Educational and technical information about biological microscopy and imaging from the University of Arizona." |
1) In a special Web supplement to the "4 April 2003 special issue of Science highlights recent advances in microscopy, fluorescent protein technology, and image analysis that have revolutionized how we view and understand the dynamic structures and events that embody living cells. To complement the Review, Viewpoint, and News articles in the special issue, we've compiled a list of Web resources and past Science articles that delve deeper into topics in bioimaging and microscopy." NOTE: On-line access to the Science Magazine web site is by paid subscription only, so this link may not work for all users (sorry). "Microscopy and Imaging Resources on the WWW - A very well-organized, extensive collection of educational and informational resources, including links to numerous online image galleries, microscopy sites, and an introduction to digital imaging. Made available by the University of Arizona Cellular Imaging Core." II) In the July 13, 2001 issue of Science Magazine, Microscopy & Imaging Resources was referenced in the NetWatch column (Science 293:179b). NOTE: On-line access to the Science Magazine web site is by paid subscription only, so this link may not work for all users (sorry). "A guide to the Web's teeming microscope resources, created by Douglas W. Cromey of the University of Arizona's Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center, provides scores of annotated, practical links aimed mainly at the beginning graduate student level and above." |

Texas Association of Biology Teachers "URL of the Week" for October 8, 2001. The Littlest Things - "Tutorials explain how to operate different types of microscopes. Lab protocols on preparing specimens, a primer on optics, sources of supplies and equipment, and advice on buying a microscope are also available. Some links deliver visitors to galleries that show off the kind of striking images modern microscopes can produce." |

Microscopy and Imaging Resources was selected for inclusion in the Scout Report for Science & Engineering (June 7, 2000). "The premier biweekly collection of useful Internet sites for researchers, educators, and students in the life sciences, physical sciences, and engineering." This particular version of the Scout report ceased publication in June 2001 due to lack of funding. "This metasite, provided by the University of Arizona's College of Pharmacy Experimental Pathology Services Core, lists a variety of microscopy-related links that are categorized into beginning and advanced topics." "This site is a good resource for scientists for whom microscopy is a primary investigative tool." |
| Microscopy and Imaging Resources was reviewed by New Scientist on May 24, 2000. "Everything you might ever want to know about light microscopy from its history to the science behind the various techniques. There is also plenty on the more advanced versions of microscopy such as confocal microscopy, which forms a laser-scanned image with much higher resolution than usual as well as electron microscopy which gets almost as close to an object as you can hope for." |
