Environmental Health Research & Expertise: 

Dr. Irma N. Ramos is a physician-scientist with formal training in clinical pediatrics and international medicine. She has extensive professional experience in the fields of public health, community outreach and engagement, and environmental medicine where she have contributed to advances at the intersection of epigenetics and public health in order to reduce health disparities and to advance health promotion and improve health outcomes. Dr. Ramos have conducted basic research in these areas and then translated these findings into public health principles for development of community-based interventions. She has provided executive leadership to several nationally recognized NIH-funded community outreach and engagement programs, carried out community-based research in the areas of health disparities, environmental medicine and epigenetics. Her areas of research interest include global health, community medicine, health disparities, environmental medicine, and personalized and precision medicine as it relates to prevention, management and treatment of complex diseases. Her current research efforts are focused on community-based research with disadvantaged populations at the national and international levels, health literacy and epigenetics focusing on the intersection of genomics, precision medicine and public health.
