Dr. Chen’s research focuses on 1) mechanisms of protein translation under oxidative stress, 2) protection against cell injury from myocardial infarction, 3) multi-omics of human heart disease, from ischemia to sudden death or heart failure, to drug treatment response, 4) environment and gene interaction for heart disease etiology and progression.  Her research programs have been founded through R01 or R21 grants from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, National Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood, National Institute of General Medical Sciences, and Holsclaw Endowment.
