The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy has announced new interim leadership roles for two longtime faculty members.
University of Arizona researcher Walter Klimecki, who has studied factors affecting arsenic susceptibility, also urged caution about Broberg’s conclusions regarding selection, but admitted that the study could spark important insights into human evolution.
Walter Klimecki, DVM, PhD, associate professor and associate head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the UA College of Pharmacy, was awarded a grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences to develop an environmental health sciences research-training program for UA undergraduate students who are from backgrounds that are under-represented in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields.
Brian Erstad, PharmD, has been selected as head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science in the College of Pharmacy effective March 18. A member of the department since 1988, Erstad has served as interim head since February 2012. He was assistant department head from 1997 through 2011.
