The model presented here allows for environmental monitoring options to be compared based on their prospective utility for human health risk assessment. The selection of analytical method for measurement of PCB congeners impacts the ability to assess PCB TEQ cancer risk for substantial portions of the general US and tribal populations. To refine estimates of PCB congener analytical needs for PCB TEQ cancer risk assessment, popu- lation fish consumption patterns should be investigated, all available contaminant information useful for defining dominant PCB congener TEQ contribution should be considered, and uncertainty in toxicity metrics for the TEF approach must be reduced.
