This article by Brian Leavy is a polemic supporting the point of view that the ‘old true’ ways of strategic fundamentals should be reviewed in light of new data. Leavy argues that these fundamentals are being forgotten in favor of hotter, bigger but less substantive and less proven ideas. The assertion is that these old ways have stronger merit then so called New Age ideas but they should be seen by the fresh eyes of youthful minds to create more relevant applications in the business world. I found some things to recommend in Leavy’s work in the field of information center strategic planning, and it is my opinion that what works for the business world according to Leavy will also work in a limited fashion with information centers too.
