Stefano Guerra

Dr. Guerra is an associate research scientist at the Arizona Respiratory Center, University of Arizona and a research associate professor at the Center for Research in Environmental Epidemiology in Barcelona, Spain. In 2009, he was also appointed full member at the Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center, University of Arizona. Dr. Guerra's research focuses on the genetic and molecular components of complex obstructive lung diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He is the principal investigator on two large prospective biomarker studies that use bio-specimens and phenotypic information available from the Tucson Epidemiological Study of Airway Obstructive Disease and the European Community Respiratory Health Survey, with the ultimate goal of identifying genes and molecular biomarkers linked prospectively to the inception and progression of asthma and COPD. He is also involved in several international collaborations on these diseases and a co-investigator on two other NIH funded projects from the Tucson Children's Respiratory Study and the Women's Health Initiative.
