Associate Professor of Planning Ladd Keith spent two weeks in northeastern India teaching faculty and students about planning for extreme heat and helping to develop curricula for two new courses.

The R. Researchers from the University of Arizona, in partnership with South32 Hermosa, have launched a comprehensive Health Impact Assessment (HIA) to better understand and protect the health of local Arizona communities as the Hermosa project advances.

The University of Arizona has received a five-year federal grant of $14.8 million to help understand and mitigate health threats of dust from mine tailings and associated hazardous fungal spores, specifically within mining communities.

The standard, which advises scientists and professionals how to record provenance for data about and from Indigenous Peoples’ nations, communities and territories, is the first of its kind and takes effect during Native American Heritage Month in the US.

A new standard developed with University of Arizona Indigenous data sovereignty expert Stephanie Russo Carroll at the helm outlines how scientists and technology professionals across an array of fields should record the provenance – or origin and history of use – for data about and relating to Indigenous Peoples.

The team of researchers from the U of A Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health followed 77 farmworkers in Sonora, Mexico for several months, regularly testing the workers’ blood and urine. The average age of the workers was 29 years old.
