Lance Tubinaghtewa is from the village of Sichomovi on the First Mesa of the Hopi Reservation. Through many years Lance has worked for the land and it's communities at many capacities. From the National Park Service to Grand Canyon Trust and the University of Arizona, Lance has worked his way through the community advocacy, environmental justice, and land stewardship field. The inception point for this career path was sparked not only by his deeply engrained traditional values of stewardship, but also his work as a trail builder for the Arizona Conservation and Ancestral Lands Corps back in 2015.

Lance's main interest is the bolstering of community agency. He believes this has been one of the most overlooked, yet important, aspects of Environmental Health not only in Arizona but across the world. His hope is to spark some of this agency within youth he will be working with during the Community Engagement Core's summer programming. He is excited to join such a remarkable team of professionals and champions!
