Dr. Chris Lim, a member of the Center, has been awarded a $1.6 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to explore the effects of environmental changes on emergency medical services.

A previous SWEHSC Community Engagement Core member, Zonnie Olivas, works for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in their Air Quality Program. For their research and efforts on improving greenhouse gas reduction measures and combating climate crisis, the program was awarded a $9,754,050 grant from the EPA.

This year, the Environmental Toxicology of Human Disease Training Program celebrates a renewal that will allow the program to continue addressing the needs of the scientific and medical communities.

The 2024 EHSCC meeting gathered researchers, scientists, and community members in environmental health science for insightful sessions, discussions, and networking.

Dr. Frank von Hippel spoke with AZPM and discussed why polluted ground and water in the Arctic have gone unnoticed.

Dr. Burgess continues to work with firefighters to study the correlation between fire exposure and increased levels of PFAS.

Jianqin Lu, PhD, was awarded the UACC Research Award for Translational Science nominated by Steffan Nawrocki, PhD.

Doctoral candidate Tuo Liu will be mentored by Melissa Furlong, PhD in the laboratory of Jeff Burgess, MD, MPH. His newly funded work will study the correlation between fire exposure and cancer in firefighters.
