Our exploration of complex disease biology continues this week with a speaker who is uniquely qualified to guide us through the intricacies of bioinformatic and computational approaches that interrogate human datasets to provide robust foundations for translational medicine. Building on data heterogeneity (a concept that was mentioned multiple times by our previous speakers), Purvesh will discuss how this feature, often considered a nuisance, can actually be leveraged by appropriate computational approaches so as to create a systems framework for powerful analyses. From inflammation (one of the most complex among complex phenotypes) to sepsis to drug repurposing, these integrating approaches are at the cutting edge of the field and are quickly becoming relevant to everyone's work - no matter what one does... and it will indeed be a treat to hear about these new paradigms from a scientist who is driving the field...
